ZELM - Badminton Network Doubles League 2009Hits: [2632]

The ZELM - Badminton Network Doubles League commenced on Saturday 17 October 2009 and we hope to have the grand finale by Christmas Day.

General Rules:

(1) Matches will be played in a best-of-three-sets 21 points format. However, the "rubber" set will be played to a sudden-death 11 points format. ie the fist pair to reach 11 points will be the winner. There will not be any deuce at 10-all. The pair that won the second set will serve first in the rubber set. There is no change-over in the rubber set.

(2) A straight sets win scores 3 points. A rubber set win scores 2 points. A rubber set loss scores 1 point. A straight sets loss will not score any points.

(3) Each pair MUST play against every other pair before Christmas. On Christmas day, the league will be closed and the scores will be tabulated. All unplayed or incomplete matches will be forfeited.

(4) All pairs are strongly encouraged to play at least one match a week.

(5) There will NOT be any umpires nor line-judges. Any doubts over line-calls will be decided by the spectators. Majority wins. In 50-50 cases where no decision can be made, the point will be played again.

we must become stronger.. for whatever that may lies ahead. time to let go of old partnerships and embrace new ones.
Netasia (3282) 05/04/2010 12:17:35

yes, its time to review the league. i suggest 2 options:

1. have a year end 1-day tournament, where we open up participation to those who had joined us regularly.

2. back to individual stats, one can pair with anyone to play 1 game, 2pts for a win, 1pt for participation, only need to record those regulars. points from friendly match will be counted too.

we can do in the way that, those who play on the tv court will be counted, or place a chart like the friendly match, winners will record the score on the chart.

details on how to get it done can be refine later, but we need to determine which options.
ultimately, what will motivates the players to take part? trophy or mysterious prize? we can take a picture of the winner and put up on our website for a year to acknowledge his/her achievement :)

Hey peeps! Any idea how to re-start this? As each week we have a few absentees, it doesn't seem feasible to have a prolonged league. Furthermore we only have about 11 monthly paying members now. That makes things even more tricky. Please shoot any suggestions.

Hey! Let's have a poll... its getting late in the year. Shall we stop the league now and restart next year? We'll just carry over the $5 registration fees to next year's league and re-draw our partners. If we can have a consensus, we'll likely re-start after Chinese New Year. So what say you... YES or NO? :)
Ambert(2667) 29/11/2009 10:13:45
So what is going to happen to those without partner? Re-shuffle?
