Selected shuttlecock review 2011Hits: [551]

BN set to conduct a test on selected shuttlecock to determine which shuttle gives the best value for our games. Brand label were taken out of the different shuttlecocks. A total of 6 shuttlecocks were in the test:
  • Yonex AS05
  • MBsport G-class 200
  • MBsport G-class 300
  • MBsport G-class 400
  • Zelm
  • Legend 1
Without knowing which shuttlecock belongs to which brand, our tester, Cheryl & Daniel, gave their honest feeback during the game play.
They were ask to compare the quality with Aeroplane SG1130. Do note that the result may vary with the style of play.

The test is base on the following qualities:
  • Flight
  • Stability
  • Speed
  • Feel
  • Durability
and here is the result:
Netasia's personal note:
Having tried all the above shuttles, i still prefer Yonex AS05 for its flight and the feel, but not its durablity. G-class 200 & 300 doesnt seem much of a difference to me, both can last about a game, but I feel the head is slightly heavy which is good for smash but slow down faster than AS05.

Zelm, is pretty close to AS05 and the feathers doesnt break as much as Yonex AS05, however the shuttlecock run out of shape after a hard game. G-glass 400 impress me most for its durablilty, on average each shuttle lasted 1.5 games. The flight and stablility is good, doesnt wobble in mid air even after few heavy smashes. The speed of Legend 1 shuttlecock drop significantly after few hard smashes, but the feather still intack and not out of shape. As for the Aeroplane SG1130, everything is good & stable, but nothing impress me much beside its durablity. Each shuttle can last about 1.5 games.

Mic, let's add the AS05, AS9, and Victor shutttles to this test result.

Nope, I don't think so. It looks like this one ...  http://www.badmintonworld.com.my/product_detail.php?mcat=MTI=&scat=MjQ=&sub=MA==&pid=MjA5

i've put up a technical comparison table of different models of top quality shuttlecocks used in Singapore.
cheryl, did we tried the protech platinum before?
richard tan(4424) 15/09/2011 23:25:22
i personally tried with protech platinum and it is pretty durable. i played single and it lasted nearly 1 hour or roughly 3 games. it maybe worth trying.

1. Pretty surprised by AS05's recent result (esp for its durability), as compared to those tubes we initially got directly from China. (Did our skills improved so much that the shuttles couldn't take it after 1 games?? hahaha).
BTW, can you disclose the price range for the shuttles, so we can also guage the value for $$.
Maybe we should also get Protect P10 & RSL in the next round of test, so we can again compare with top 3 shuttles we previously tested.
Mic, I'll be back with other brands of shuttles from China after my shanghai trip in October. Let's see if we have closer competitors.
