look at the very last rally, ant did a decent smash, opponent drive it back. actually that shot is supposed to be daniel's cause he is the net man in this case. once the netman let it go, ant is going to have a hard time taking the shuttle. what i am trying to say, the netguy must make a decent attempt to cut off the reply otherwise, the back guy gona struggle.

Anyway, the difference btw smashing middle and sidelines, is that, by smashing middle ( and I mean between the 2 players and not middle of the court) is that it will cause confusion to who will receive the smash. Its okay to smash the sidelines but need to gauge if the defender is prone to backhand or forehand defense style. it is more advantageous to smash to the forehand sidelines if the defender is prone to backhand defense.

Well, lost or win is secondary, need to learn our game in order to play a better game each time. Me not expert, but watched this quite a few times, I still feel this a balance combi based on individual strength & weaknesses. Overall, quite a fair share of unforced errors within our own players but quite obvious that there's lack of communication. Another observation in comparison with the oponent : Most shots from us are within the internal lines (so only 1 step required from the oponent), whilst the oponent make us work harder, particularly with the backhands.

at 12:21, that guy lifted half, 3/4 court, but daniel chose to smash to the sidelines.. the guy somehow got it back and we lost the rally. i was thinking maybe a smash down the middle will do the trick?? cause that will involve net player more.
